Working From Home - All It's Cracked Up to Be and More

By Susan Payton

I recently was interviewed about my home based business for a local news program. I realize how many people are probably envious that I get to work from my home. I wish I could say it’s not as great as it seems, but I’d be lying. I love working from home. I don’t miss the commute or the stress of finding a parking spot. I have no difficulty separating work and family life. I simply ignore the piles of laundry until I close up shop and can focus on my family duties. Operating my marketing company out of my home keeps my costs low. I don’t have to pay for leasing office space, or the utilities that come with it. I don’t have any full-time employees, so benefits and 401Ks aren’t in my vocabulary. Home based businesses are on the rise, as more companies realize the cost savings advantages of outsourcing work to home-based companies.

If you can dream it, you can do it from home. Here are some tips for starting your own home based business:

1. Do What You Know. It’s important to be familiar with the area in which you do business. It’s also important to like it. Working from home isn’t about “getting rich quick,” it’s about having options. Think about what you are passionate about, and build your business around that.

2. Get a Strong Support Network. Start with your family. They have to be behind you 100% in your entrepreneurial endeavor, or it will be a difficult journey. Make sure your family understands that just because you work from home, that doesn’t mean you’ll be doing chores and running errands for the household! Additionally, find a strong support network of likeminded entrepreneurs. This may be a networking group in your community or a group online. When you work from home, you don’t interact with people every day, so it’s important to have a team of people who can encourage you and support you.

3. Research, Research, Research. Arm yourself with as much information as possible on both your business platform and working from home. You’ll make major adjustments from working in a conventional office, and it’s important for you to know what you’re faced with.

4. Block off Work and Family Time. It’s easy to let work time melt over into family time. Don’t let it. Establish timeframes for when you are in work mode and switch off 100% when it’s time for family. You may close your office door and turn off your computer to add to the “being off” effect.

5. Roll With the Punches. Just like starting any business, your home based business will have some rough times initially. Getting clients to pay promptly enough for you to pay bills is a constant struggle. Get through the tough patches knowing that eventually, your entrepreneurial efforts will pay off! Working from home can be rewarding. It can help you reconnect with your family, be there for your children, and give you something to strive for. While you may give up some things (steady income, higher salary), you ultimately will have the best job in the world, no matter what you do!

5 New Ways People are Making Money Online in the 21st Century

By Paul Middleton

There are loads of articles out there (some written by me) telling you how to make money with Affiliates, PPC ads, ebay etc. These methods are still valid but have been around for several years.

This article brings you bang up to date with the latest way people are making money online. All excellent examples of how the Internet has opened up multiple ways of wealth creation.

Selling your Digital Pictures

If you’ve got a digital camera and an eye for a good picture you can make money by uploading your creations to stock photography sites. These sites are frequented by businesses that can’t afford to hire a photographer and will download photos from these sites according to their needs. If they choose one of your photos you will be paid a commission. One photo can bring you multiple commissions so the money can soon start adding up.

Stock Photography sites should allow you to upload your photographs for free so there is no financial risk. Most good sites will have a most popular page so you can see what sort of photographs people are looking for.

A good stock photography website to start at is istockphoto

Lending your Spare Cash.

If you have some spare money you can lend it to people who are looking for a loan using websites that act as a lending and borrowing exchange. It basically puts people who want to borrow money together with people who have money to lend (peer-to-peer lending). The borrowers get better rates than they could get from banks and the lenders get better returns than they could from leaving their money in a bank to earn interest.

Take a look at Zopa for more details.

Selling Your Skills to the World.

With more and more online business starting around the world there is a bigger demand for various skills involved in getting such businesses up and going, running and developed.

Technical skills like web design and programming are in high demand but so are the more creative skills such as graphical design and the writing of articles to be used for website content or marketing.

By far the biggest website that brings the demanders and suppliers together is Elance. Check it out you’ll be amazed at the amount of services that are in demand worldwide.

Create a Video People Love.

Following on from the massive success of YouTube loads of copycat websites have sprung up allowing people to upload and share their videos.

Some of these websites will pay the uploader if their video is popular. For example metacafe will pay you $5 for every thousand views a video gets after it reaches 20,000 views.

Looking on their Top Earners page there are four people who have earned over $20,000 and several more over $10,000 just for uploading their home videos on this site. Not a bad little sideline.

Play an Online game

There are millions of people playing massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) across the globe and this number increases every day.

Millions of young Chinese make a living from mining gold in World Of Warcraft. They then sell it onto gamers who don’t have time to do this but want to develop their character as quickly as possible. This will only be worthwhile for those living in countries where the cost of living is much cheaper than the world average as the return in dollars per hour spent is very low by Western standards.

However with the advent of virtual worlds such as Second Life that has a virtual economy with currency that can be traded for real world currency everyone can join in. Second Life has recently spawned its first “real world” millionaire who made their money by trading in Second Life real estate. The opportunities in Second Life are unlimited – check it out it’s free to join.

Every day new opportunities arise on the Internet for making money the hardest thing is deciding which ones are right for you!

Paul Middleton is a successful Internet entrepreneur. He shares some of his secrets on his website where he shows people how you can make money online working from home. Included are details of how to make money in Second Life.

Work or Stay Home Mom Dilemma, Why Not Do Both!

By Bee Ryan

Are you a work at home mom? If so, why did you choose to become one? If you want to be a work at home mom, what is your reason?

Why we become work at home moms varies from mom to mom. Some moms want to be home with their kids, but need to generate an income. Some have always wanted to be their own boss or have flexibility in a telecommuting job. While others, like me, want something to call our own and make a little money while doing it.

There are many reasons and thousands of options for moms. The key is to find a work at home job or business that you love and can build and grow. When you love what you do, you cannot help but be successful.

Being able to work from home brings together the two most important factors for moms. Working from home means moms can be home with their kids and not miss the important moments and still be able to contribute to the family finances and focus on a grown up endeavor. Work at home moms can achieve a great sense of pride in themselves by being able to take an idea and turn it into a successful business.

In the past, the choice was go to work outside the home or stay home. There was no in between. Many moms who worked felt they missed out on seeing their children grow up. Moms who chose to stay home, may have felt some regret once their children were grown and they didn’t have the skills necessary to go back to work after being home for so long. Today, this does not have to be the case. Moms can have it both ways by working from home if they so choose. Spending time with their kids and building new skills and a business.

Working from home is a challenge. Finding a balance between taking care of the children, the house, and growing a business is no easy task. It takes a lot of planning and organization, but when you find a system and make it work, it’s the best of both worlds.

By Raymond Nesa

More and more, people are turning to home based businesses to supplement income. But what do you do when you want to increase that income? Here are seven steps to help you create more money in your home based business.

1. Advertise, advertise, advertise! This is a crucial step for any business, and if you are an internet-based business it’s even more so. You can often get free advertising with some well written community newspaper articles and pres releases, all which you can do yourself.

2. Network. Also a crucial part of doing business, you can increase your networking potential by volunteering, requesting references, and attending community functions.

3. Hit the online forums. If you are selling blue widgets, there will be a blue widget user’s forum out there somewhere. Get on, start posting, and make your presence known.

4. Get a nice website. Have a pro do a simple website with order forms for you if necessary. Make sure it’s hosted by a reliable company and you get good support.

5. Write articles. Post your blue widget articles on your website, and offer them to other appropriate webmasters to use for free—establish yourself as an expert.

6. Blog it. If you can and have time, set up a blog on your website; if not, there are lots of blog sites out on the internet. Log on and use them!

Quit Your Job And Get Wealthy

By Daniel Sudhakar

Sounds crazy? Well, this could be the best advice that you can get ever get, if you are in a job situation. You must be saying, "This job is what helps me meet my expenses, run my family and bring food to the table. Why would I want to do a crazy thing like quitting my job?"

Well, quitting your job is not a bad idea at all. In fact, the single road block on your path to success, riches and wealth might be your job! Now before you jump to conclusions about the sanity of that advice, let's get some things straight here. Whichever rung you are right now on the corporate ladder and whatever level you hope to rise to in the future, your salary is not going to make you wealthy enough to realize all of your dreams.

Wealth doesn't come from working for a salary. The principle of wealth states that the work that you do once should keep bringing you income constantly. The work that you do and the income that it brings should never be on a 1:1 ratio. But this very principle is totally contradictory to salaried jobs. When it comes to a job, you get paid for the work that you do. One week's work gets you one week's pay. One month's work gets you one month's pay. No work gets you no pay. Very simple.

But in the business realm, the rules are very different. From the work that you do once, you can hope to get paid for a long time to come. Let's see an example. If someone writes a book and manages to get it published, then that single piece of work is going to bring them royalty every time a book gets sold. The income is not proportional to the work done here. The author might have spent four or five months writing his book, but the money that he gets paid for his work can sometimes keep pouring in for decades. That is the beauty of being outside of the job realm.

That's just one example. In fact, in the business realm, there are so many ways in which you can earn a constant stream of income for the work that you do just once. And since you need to do the work only once, you have more free time at your disposal which you can then use constructively to do some other work, which in turn would start another stream of constant income.

If that's true, why wouldn't everyone dump their job and start a business? There are a few reasons for people adamantly sticking to their jobs even when they know it won't get them far. Robert Kiyosaki, in his book "The Cash Flow Quadrant" explains that people have four different mindsets when it comes to earning money. You have the salaried person, the professional, the businessman and the investor. The first type does a job to earn his income; the second independently practices his skills to earn his income; the third runs a business to earn money; and the fourth uses his money to earn more money.

Remember these are four different mindsets, and people in each group stick with their respective thought patterns regardless of the advantages or disadvantages of their particular mindset. It is extremely difficult to drag a person from one mode of earning money to another mode basically because it requires a totally different mindset. For example, it would be an uphill task trying to convince a person to quit his job and start a business (which in fact is what I am doing here right now). And if you are hesitating to even think about it, that proves my point right away. Changing one's mode of earning their income is almost like changing their religion; it becomes an emotional struggle. They begin to wonder whether everything they had believed so far about financial matters was wrong, and that makes them feel very uneasy. When the foundations are shaken, it is not a very pleasant experience. So now you understand why people resist change. They would rather stick to a faulty system and pay the price for it than start afresh and reap its benefits.

Unfortunately, this very attitude keeps people in bondage and slavery to their job, their boss (however mean he might be), their circumstances and their mediocre lifestyle. They would rather grit their teeth and go through a life that is familiar to them than venture into something that is alien to their mode of thinking, even if it promises freedom from their drudgery.

As we all know, a couple of hundred years back, slavery was practiced in the US. Slavery was legal and millions of slaves underwent hard labor throughout their lives. Then came the Emancipation Proclamation. Every slave was free to go and do whatever he pleased. But you know what, many of them stayed where they were, doing whatever they had been doing all their lives. They didn't know anything else to do. They were getting three meals a day, a place to sleep and maybe a set of new clothes once every few years. And they didn't want to lose that. Even after they got liberated from their slavery, they preferred to continue as slaves because they didn't know any better. Isn't that pathetic! Now that is slave mentality.

I hope you are beginning to see a parallel here. People in a job are literally enslaved to it because of their particular mindset. They wouldn't want to break loose from that pattern. The security of knowing that a pay check awaits them at regular intervals makes them enslaved to this mode of earning money rather than other more financially sound methods. They relinquish their freedom for a false sense of temporary security.

The only way of escape from this situation is a complete renewal of the mind. Once the mindset changes, the lifestyle follows suit. "As a man thinketh, so is he", the Bible says. You are what you think you are. Your mind has such an influence over you. And if you change your thoughts about yourself, then you can change who you are. Instead of letting your mind cripple you, you can use that very power to change you from the inside out.

Once the mindset changes, adaptability becomes much easier. The mind is able to think in new terms. Even with regard to methods of income generation, a renewed mind is what it takes to adapt to a new method of income generation such as a business, instead of a job. With an un-renewed mind, a transition from a job to a business lifestyle would be almost impossible. On the other hand, with a renewed mind a transition to business is almost unstoppable. Progress and growth become inevitable when the mind is renewed.

To renew one's mind, what it needed is information. Precise, timely, up-to-date information. When the mind is confronted with irrefutable information, a gradual renewal of the mind commences. Over a period of time, this results in a marked change in attitude, disposition and lifestyle.

And that's precisely the manner in which a person can be weaned away from a job and introduced to a business lifestyle. With precise, timely and up-to-date information on business principles and methods, a person can be guided into making the transition from depending on a job to running a business for a living.

Yes, you can quit your job and get wealthy. But it is not wise to do it in a rush. A slow and balanced approach is more advisable. A time frame of one year or 52 weeks is a realistic goal that you can set to make the transition from a job to a business lifestyle.

Starting An Internet Business The Right Way

By Alexander Newell

Starting an internet business is an exciting and difficult endeavor. There are many decisions to be made and skills to be learned. The biggest of these decisions is the choice of which business model you are going to follow. In other words, "How are you going to earn your income online ?"

Here are:7 options to consider, seven different business models for an internet beginner to ponder

Adsense:

This is Google advertising on your website. Your job is to write or commission articles and assemble them into a professional looking website. Google's job is to find adverts which are suitable.. All you do is write interesting material about your chosen niche or passion. You can just talk to a friend about your niche and tape it. Then just type it or get a secretarial agency or www.elance.com to transcribe it for you. Lots of professionals get content for their web pages like this.

Affiliate Marketing:

I call this The Way Of The Middle Man. It is, "Making Money by Selling Other People's Stuff" . One of the most proficient "Middle Women" is Rosalind Gardner who makes a six figure income by Affiliate Marketing. It is selling for people who do not like selling. The days of high pressure sales are over. What works best on the modern day web is a more reflective and editorial approach. So you could review a product and provide an Affiliate link to the merchant site in your review.

eBay Marketing

This is a whole series of market places online. Much used by marketers to do research about what is selling, what niches are active etc. Also of course people buy and sell here. Here is free marketing information. Many people watch what ebay customers want and then go get it and sell it to them. Where do they get it? From eBay of course! Yes you really can buy stuff from one market in eBay and sell it into another market in eBay. It needs perseverance and a certain mindset but you can make a very good living like this. It is not for me but it may be for you!

Email Marketing:

You will often here web marketers obsessing about getting more "Traffic" to their website. By "Traffic" of course they mean visitors. All other things being equal, the more visitors you get the more sales you make. Now there are plenty of ways of getting more traffic and of getting the most out of the traffic you are getting. But far and away the most important way of contacting visitors again and again is through email.

Have a look at your email, how many times have you been emailed by the merchants and marketers there in your inbox? All other things being equal contacting your visitors repeatedly like this will lead to further sales.

If someone just surfs onto your website gives it glance and surfs off how likely is it to get a sale?

Very unlikely! But if you encourage them to sign up for your Niche Newsletter and you email them regular with interesting stuff they care about they are quite likely to buy sooner or later. Provide quality content, market sensibly and it will work, if you do!

Information Marketing:

In the Offline world business is about, "Location, location, locations", but online its all about, "Information, information, information". So the market is there, the demand is ready but are you ready?

Whether it is advice about motorcycle servicing, gardening, minimizing your tax exposure, there is a demand for millions of niche subjects and any experience you have from work or hobbies or from your personal life can be used to produce a Special report or ebook and a one page website to sell it or even give it away to get people to subscribe to your newsletter. There you discuss your niche with other "fanatics" and review any books or other products. Buyers then make you money by affiliate sales. If you like the idea of making your living by writing, this may be the best Business Model for you.

Merchandising:

This is selling real stuff, not just information in ebooks. If you already have a shop it makes sense to extend its reach onto the Internet. Like all other Business Models you must do your research to see if there is web demand for this, or whether you just want to automate some of your sales. You can build this yourself with the right software. It is not necessary to spend huge amounts on a website, you just need one that works. And while we are thinking about "What works" keep well away from Graphic designers and their "cool" websites. You need a website that sells well. It does not need to look cool. You may need a specialist help you installing the shopping cart. Either get help from your Web Host or hire someone from Rentacoder.com, elance.com, or guru.com. . It is a small job for a professional.

There are two ways of arranging an online shop. You can do the whole deal, order processing, putting the stuff in boxes, postage etc. Or you can arrange a fulfilment company to do all the wrapping, shipping etc and leave you with marketing and product development. Depends on what kind of life you want!

Professional Services

Service Providers such as Lawyers and Accountants take notice, the Internet is for you too! And for Financial Planners and for Real Estate and Chiropractors and Hairdressers and ... anyone who provides a service, even if very hands on, needs an Internet presence to perhaps introduce enquirers to your business as well as build the relationship with their present customers and clients, and provide them with news through email, special offers etc. And just to communicate in a different way to your present client base Offline

So, which of the business models of those above is best for you? Only you can make that decision, Of course many Internet business owners will use more than one of these models. Most will use Affiliate sales, many will use Adsense and everybody who knows what they are doing will be working on their email marketing. And of course you can't learn everything at once. You may prioritize the website and put either Adsense or Affiliate links on it and then start to build your email list by using a quality autoresponder

I can't exaggerate the importance of understanding which business model suits you best..

Until you are clear how you are going to use the Internet you are wandering about the Net like a victim ready to scooped up by scams and get rich quick schemes! The clearer you can be about your intention and your business model the easier it will be to get the right help and meet the right people. And the sooner you will be serving the customers you were meant to serve.

How to Get Paid to Take Surveys

By Jorge Chavez

At some point in time anyone who surfs the Internet gets asked to fill out a survey. Big ones, little ones, all types are out there. After awhile we get calloused to the idea; most people just generally ignore them.

But surveys are important, especially to the ones that make them. Surveys are a valuable source of information about what people are thinking. They provide insights and details of customer/client preferences, wants and needs.

The instant types of surveys, at least the serious ones, select prospective survey takers based on positional context. PayPal, for example, uses a "quality of service evaluation" type of survey questionnaire that it asks its members to fill out after every problem resolution exercise is finished. At that point in time they already know that (1) You are one of their client/members.(2) You just had an experience with their problem resolution department, and (3) That you are logged in to their website and online. That makes you clearly qualified and in a position to immediately comment on that experience, how you felt about it, how you were treated, etc.

But not everyone with questions to be answered has that kind of close and immediate contact with those who have the answers. In fact, many companies have little or no contact with their customers.

Consider the plight of a company producing, packing, selling and distributing mayonnaise. Their immediate customers are distributors and major supermarket chains. They ship their product out by the truckload. Days later, maybe thousands of miles away, their real customers, the ultimate consumer, passes by their product on the grocery store shelf and makes a critical buying decision. He or she either buys their product or buys a competitor's product, or buys neither. The mayonnaise packer must know, or have a pretty good idea, why that ultimate customer chooses one product over another. But how to find out?

The answer is surveys. The mayonnaise packer hires a Marketing Research firm to find out what potential buyers think. The Marketing Research firm carefully crafts a series of questions designed to get answers to the primary questions that management has. Then they contract a Survey making company to physically get answers to their questionnaire. They specify the demographics; geographic areas, qualifying questions, "How many times do you buy groceries a month?" "How much do you spend on groceries each month?" and so forth.

The survey maker runs a computer sort on its database of survey takers to see how many qualify under the demographic specifications. Then they select a representative sample of these, adjust the sample size to fit within their budget for this survey. When they are ready they post the survey on a private page of their website and send out email notifications to the chosen survey participants.

Now how do they know that these people are qualified and that they will take the time to go to the website and fill out the survey forms? [Aha! Now we come to the meat of this story!]

They know that these survey takers are qualified because they had all filled out applications earlier giving their complete demographic information. And, they know that most will come in and fill out the survey forms because they have already agreed to pay them for their participation!

And the survey maker's contract with the Marketing Research firm included the funds to pay the survey takers.

And so you see, it makes perfect sense for the mayonnaise packer (and thousands of companies in similar situations of needing information and feedback from their distant customer base) to pay for this survey information. This means that there are many thousands of surveys being made, and the survey makers must have a large, stable list of survey takers available to send them out to.

So all you have to do to get paid to take surveys is to get on the survey makers' lists, then check your inbox and respond to the surveys you are offered!

There are hundreds of survey makers out there, some good, some not-so-good and some bad. The market situation is constantly changing, so you will need a good paid survey guide company to advise you about which to sign up with and which to avoid. Pick your guide company with great care, since the quality of that guide company's service to you will be critical to your future success.

Make Money At Home Idea

By Lars Fagerliroen

Do you need make money at home ideas? Can your idea make you money?

When you trying to figure out ideas, realize that the more people that want something the
better it is for you and your make money at home idea.

If you are the only one that is interested, then at best it will be a great hobby. The more demand there is for your idea, the better. Even with less demand, you can be successful, but you must be even better to find your target market.

Realize also, that if you can make your product or service in to residual income, it would be even better.

Residual income means you get repetitive sales for a job you have done only once. It is the same as receiving passive income.

One idea is to make yourself a system where you make a product out of the process
it is to make the system.

Many people would like to have a system in place for creating their own product,
creating web traffic to a sales page and then sell the product to their visitors.

Write every thing you do down and you can make videos of the process too. You can
use software like Camtasia from Techsmith, to record what you do on your pc.

Another great make money at home idea is to get affiliates for your products or services.
This will get you a fleet of salespeople and sales, where you in turn give away a percentage of the sale to your affiliates.

Many talk of MLM and network marketing like it is something unethical, but the fact is that mlm
is a great way to make money from home. You do not need to create any product or service. Just
focusing on creating traffic, sales and building a sales force. If your internet knowledge is
limited, look into mlm. There are Thousands upon thousands of people and companies to choose to work with.

If you truly want to be independent of all people. Make yourself a system and build yourself a large list of people who want to receive the information you have.

Look for an opportunity to make it into something that can bring you residual income.

7 Signs That Your Internet Business Is Dying

By Brian Wynn

Not bringing in the business you were six months ago? Even though you are managing your business the same way by writing articles, updating your web site, and sending email, has business suddenly dropped? Is the old 'it's just that time of year' excuse wearing thin? If so, then your business may be dying right in front of you. Recognizing the signs early will help you salvage your internet home business and get you back on track.

1. Orders Are Down

If there has been less demand for your goods and services for more than a month and it is not during a regularly slow time, then you may have lost customers. You will need to rethink your marketing strategy in order to attract new customers.

You cannot afford to keep showing low profits. But you have the power to help yourself out of this rut by sending out new email campaigns, updating your web site, promoting your products on the internet.

2. Customer Inquiries Are Down

If clients are not contacting you as much about new projects, or if customers are not contacting you asking for additional information, then you may be in trouble. If your internet home business is lacking in interest, then you should find out why. Send out a questionnaire or poll to your existing customers and clients. Ask them about previous services, and what they want to see in the future. Then implement it.

3. Trying To Sell Products That Are No Longer Popular

Unfortunately, you must follow customer demand many times in order to stay in business, especially on the internet. You will need to constantly research new ideas and products. This is true of affiliate marketing because when a company is not doing well, the affiliate's income will suffer as well. It is best to drop companies that are no longer profitable and find new ones that will be.

4. Decreasing Income Each Month

If you see a significant drop in income each month, then your business may be in trouble. This may be for several reasons. Either you are not bringing in the customers you once were or you are spending too much money on business expenses. In order to save money, make improvements that are absolutely necessary. Buy new software only when you need to. Find online advertising that won't cost too much money each month.

5. Spending More Money Than What You're Earning

If you are spending more money than what you are earning each month, then your business will be upside down by the end of the year. Cut back on spending and put that money back into your business.

6. Wasting Time

The key to any successful internet home business is spending time in the areas that will be the most profitable. You should be tracking where your business is coming from so that you can spend most of your time advertising there. While it is good to try new areas, make sure you have a steady stream of customers before venturing into new territory.

7. Dreaming, Instead Of Acting

Dreaming about the success of your internet home business will not make it successful. You must know everything that is going on and making changes when necessary. This will help keep your internet home business from dying.

Transform Your Life - Work From Home

By Ken Shorey

Deciding to throw in the corporate towel for a work at home business opportunity may be the most crucial life-changing event that you will ever make. The skills and resources that you
utilized in your corporate position can be easily transferred into an on-line business enterprise that is owned exclusively by you.

However, you have to be careful that you also transfer your work ethic that was evident in your corporate position or your business may not ever have lift off.

There is a proliferation of new work at home entrepreneurs who are exploring the online world of business ownership. This new generation of dynamic marketers is changing the economic landscape at home and abroad. Because of the access to excellent support tools like the Internet, people are able to participate in this global market place.

A recent Internet poll revealed that business employees feel confident purchasing goods and services from the Internet. This is good new for the new work from home business owner. The Internet has proved itself to be a secure way to conduct business. This means, that almost any types of goods are services can be offered from the Internet. There is a world of opportunity available to the new work from home entrepreneur.

However, the work from home entrepreneurs has to remember that they are running a business. They have to mind their stores online as closely as they monitored the business operations of their former employers. Even though you are the boss of your work from home business, the boss has to put in more time and more sweat equity to insure the success of the business.

Of course, you can sleep in later. You can get up when you like, those are the perks of working for yourself. However, working from home means exactly that, working from home. There are certain business operations and processes that have to be attended to online just as these operations were part of your offline job.

Work from home business owners must acquire new skills that will enable them to run every aspect of their business successfully. There are terms and processes on the Internet that may sound foreign to the new work at home executive. Terms like opt-in list or autoresponders are not used in most corporate businesses. Using Google Adwords or Adsense may be new terms for the new work-at home business owner. However, knowing this terminology online is important to long-term business success.

Acquiring these new skills will serve as the foundation for building the virtual empire that the new owner anticipates that owning a business will provide.
Starting a work-from home business can transform an employee into a business executive almost overnight. Whether that business expands and produced the expected income is based on a number of critical factors.

Work from home business owners have to wear several hats. The business owner is the sales and marketing department, the data entry group as well as the human resources leg of their company. As the business expands, and only then, can the work from home executive outsource these activities to accelerate productivity.

Thanks to the Internet, the work from home business owner can automate some processes to make the business run more efficiently. However, this is again an acquired skill. Being open to new and innovative ways to market, new products and learning new skills will provide a framework for a new business to grow and prosper on the Internet.

Working from home with the right attitude, products and open mind almost insures success. This combination will make working from home the life changing experience that it should be.

Using Myspace To Promote Your Business Presence

By Rich Henderson

If you are thinking in terms of MySpace as being a great place to network with other business professionals and promote your business at the same time, you are right. The potential for expanding public awareness of your business through MySpace is virtually unlimited. However, if your profile is to stand out, there are a few basic ideas you need to keep in mind. First, you want your profile to be easy to load. You know from your own web searches that nothing is quite as exasperating as researching for a vendor on the Internet, finally coming across a likely prospect, only to find yourself having to navigate through animation and other bells and whistles. For people that want to get to solid information, including contact names, emails, and phone numbers, having to wade through slow loading special effects can be such a turn off that they back up and look elsewhere.

MySpace does allow for both fixed backgrounds as well as animated backgrounds. If you really want to make sure the page loads quickly (and if you are targeting a residential market, where dial-up connections are still the name of the game in many parts of the country), then you will want to go with the fixed background. Artfully created repeating backgrounds are great for many purposes, but if you want people to stop and read without visual distractions, keep it simple. The faster your page loads, the more quickly your potential customer will find out what you are all about. Second, don’t use a lot of filler in your descriptions. You want to put a lot of fact in relatively little space. This allows people to quickly see what you do and how it can be helpful to them. Because of the blog feature on MySpace, you can easily include links to parts of your blog to expound on various points that you highlight on your home page. Keep the verbiage snappy and to the point.

Last, make sure the arrangement of information represents a logical succession of thought. As an example, if you are reselling teleconference services, don’t begin with a laundry of list of how to make a conference call. Instead, lead off with information concerning the many ways people use conference calls. Once someone understands they need a conference call service, then you can educate them in proper conference call etiquette. Using a MySpace profile to further your business interests is a great idea. By paying attention to a few basic concepts, you can ensure your profile is attractive, readable, and easy for your potential customer to navigate.

The Top Four Ways To Make Money Online

By Trent Brownrigg

It seems as though making money online is something everyone wants to do these days. It's understandable due the huge amounts of money that can be made online and the fact that you get to work for yourself while doing it. But what can you do to make money online? Well, this article is going to reveal the top four online money making methods that I have found to date. These are not get rich quick schemes. They are proven online money making methods, and if you put sufficient effort into these avenues of money making online, you will find success.

So, here are the top four ways to make money online:

1) Marketing Information Products

This is the favorite of many and definitely one of the best ways to make a lot of money online. Creating and selling your own information product such as an ebook can make you a lot of money in a relatively short amount of time. Once you have created and started marketing your product, it can be sold over and over again for years. The best part is that you make 100% of the money from sales and your customers can download the ebook as soon as they buy it, so you don’t have to worry about any inventory or shipping costs. I suggest every person who wants to make money online have at least one information product being sold at all times.

2) Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing allows you to start making money online without having to create any products or services of your own. Instead, you market other people’s products and services. Affiliate marketing is great because it is so fast and easy to get going. You can literally be in business for yourself, marketing products as an affiliate in a matter of minutes. Now, actually getting sales and making money as an affiliate marketer may not be quite as easy but it's not exactly hard either.

Being an affiliate marketer can easily supplement any product or service you are already selling, so if you are not doing this you are literally leaving money on the table. Affiliate marketing can provide instant profits but you should take your time when choosing companies to promote because commission percentages range widely. One company may only offer a 5% commission per sale, while another company may offer 75%. Usually the higher, the better.

3) Google Adsense

Adsense is a program that places relevant ads on your site and you are paid each time the ads are clicked by your visitors. The ads are created by Google Adwords advertisers and you get a percentage of the price they pay for the ad each time someone clicks on it. If you get a lot of traffic to your site you can make a lot of money with Adsense. I recommend doing some research on Adsense before you start using them because there are a lot of tactics you can use to drastically increase your profits.

4) Joint Ventures (JV's)

Joint ventures are another great way to make a lot of money online fairly quickly. I find that joint ventures usually work best with information products. But it doesn't have to be an information product; you can do joint ventures with basically any product.

This tactic simply involves partnering with key individuals in the same or similar niche as you. You want them to have websites that receive much more traffic than your own and they will likely have a large opt-in mailing list. All you have to do is approach these individuals and make a proposal. Keep in mind they get approached often so you will have to give them a lot of value and be very professional. I find that giving them more profits than you keep works well. Again, the more generous your offer, the more likely they will want to partner up with you.

Imagine the power of doing a successful joint venture with someone that has an opt-in mailing list of 75,000 loyal subscribers. All they have to do is send out a message to their list with a recommendation of your product and a link to your site. If you have a compelling sales page and your product is high quality, you will most likely make a huge amount of sales and a lot of money.

In conclusion, all of the four methods above give you the opportunity to make money online. You can even make huge sums of money from them, allowing you to quit your job to work from home for yourself. However, they require you to learn the necessary information to work them effectively and put in an adequate amount of time and effort. Making money online is not easy, but it's not exactly hard either. It can definitely be done!

Is Drop Shipping A Legitimate Home Business Money Maker?

By Paul Jesse

There are hundreds of ways to make money online and from the expense of your home, but some just don't make you the money you're probably hoping for. Drop shipping is, fortunately, not under that category. Drop shipping is a legitimate home business money maker for more reasons than you would think. Before you make drop shipping a home business money maker, shouldn't you know what it is?

Drop shipping is a type of retailing where you pass the order and shipping details to a wholesaler. From there, the wholesaler dispatches the product and complete order to the customer directly. This saves you the hassle of having to store products at your house or in a building, and it also saves you the hassle of shipping things out.

The way you can make this a home business money maker is by collecting the difference between the wholesale price you are billed and the retail price you sell it for. This can be tricky determining what to set your retail price at because the internet is a very competitive industry. If you set the pricing too high, your potential customers will likely go elsewhere to do business. If you set them too low, your overall profit will be minimal.

While it is important to come up with a price to sell your product for, first you have to select a product that will create a home business money maker. Obviously, the more intrigued you are the better chances you will have of having success. Therefore, look into public appeal for products that you yourself have interest in.

There are several websites on the internet that allow you to see how many times a keyword phrase is being searched. This will help you determine what products can legitimately create a home business money maker and which ones will fail you.

After you find the product you want to promote, you have to find a place to provide the products. This is where you want to search the major search engines to find a quality affiliate program to sell the products from. Once you find an affiliate program for a wholesale company, they will take it from there. They will handle the products, deal with the money and drop ship all products.

What you have to do is market the product(s) and generate a traffic volume using various marketing techniques. Without any customers you have no business, but with an extensive marketing campaign you can truly make a decent profit from drop shipping.

Three Insider Secrets that Bring a Rolling Thunder of Traffic to Your Home Business Website

By Siriol Jameson

There. You did it! You just built a killer of a
home business Website. Plus, your offer is
irresistible and you have the product of a
lifetime.

Now what?

You need to drive traffic to your Website.
Unless you get the word out, your Website is
going to sit on the wall and age like an
old poster.

It is time to market.

Most people would rather have root canal work
than go out and try to sell something. If that
sounds like you, you can set your fears aside.
The 3 insider secrets below can take you anywhere
you want to go – without selling.

What is more, these secrets are free or very
low cost. Also, they are low-tech. And, they
are easy to use.

Here are the 3 insider secrets:

1) Articles -

Veteran marketers use articles as one of their
top strategies. Many have several thousand articles
in circulation.

Here are 5 tips to help you write quickly and easily:

* Choose a narrowly focused keyword or phrase that you can use in your title, your first paragraph and again at the end of the article.

* Plan the article out before writing.

* Keep the article short – between 400 and 500 words. It has a better chance of being published.

* Write out your resource box ahead of time. Tell about one benefit readers will get at your Website or from your free ezine.

* Let the finished article rest a couple of days. Then, read it aloud or have someone else read it.

2) News Releases -

News releases are the 900-pound gorilla awaiting to get out of the tub.

Releases spread like wildfire both on the Internet
and in print. Millions will read a story based
on your release in their local paper.

Here are a few success tips for releases:

* Choose a news release submission service on the Internet. Go with their no cost or low cost package.

* Focus on one newsworthy angle. This might be a new product or service you are offering. Or, tie your offer in with an upcoming holiday. Then again, you might link your business to a current trend such as higher interest rates, or a surge in the popularity of a certain breed of dogs.

* Keep your news release to one page. This gives your release a better chance of being chosen.

* Include just the facts. Put them in short, pithy sentences.

* Your headline is your most important element. It has to catch the eye of the editor. Keep it short and make sure it delivers a punch.

* Your subhead should answer the questions who, what, where, when, why and how.

3) Forums and News Groups -

Posting comments and articles in forums allows you to target prospective customers.

Choose a forum that matches your home business. This way, you will be talking to people who are
interested in your product. To find the forum that is right for you, do a Google search.

Thousands of readers will see your comments and visit your Website.

Your comments will add valuable information to the discussion. If you have some particular knowledge,
answer questions. You will be surprised at how quickly this will label you “an expert.”

There you have it. These secrets work for the big marketers and they will work for you, too.

Before you know it, you will hear the thunder of targeted traffic headed straight for your home
business Website.

You will need to plan this dream well before it can become a reality. Draw up a plan of action so that you know what you must do first and when all your goals must be accomplished. Only when you know exactly what you are going to do and how you are going to do it must you resign from your job.

If you are not very sure of the direction you should go into check on the internet. There are many opportunities online for people who want to make money. There are companies who are offering businesses for sale. Before you part with any money check these options out very well and if you are not sure what is going on and would like a second opinion get one. You must have a friend or relative that is computer literate and can help you check out what the business is all about.

Most of these businesses are about selling information although there are other products as well. You can either sell your own products or someone else’s at a profit.

Work From Home - Become A Business Executive for Under 200 Dollars

By Ken Shorey

The cost to start an online work from home business is under $200.00. All you need to start working from home is a computer, Internet connection, a domain name and hosting company. You can hang out your shingle saying "Open For Business" within days of making the decision to have a business online.

Once your plans are finalized as to what type of work at home business you want to start, you can find the products or services that complement your idea. The planning and execution of your planned business venture will cost you nothing but your time.

The day-to day operation of a work at home business opportunity can be automated to a level where your time commitment is minimal. When all the pieces of the business are in place, you can appoint
yourself a CEO of your home based business. Officially, you will need to decide on a business structure that will support your CEO status.

Starting a home-based business is not without risks. The success and promised wealth will not just materialize overnight. A home based business or any new business venture is never a sure thing in terms of guaranteed success. But the upside of owning your own business has benefits that no JOB can ever provide you. You are in control of your life, your destiny, your income.

If the entrepreneurial spirit is alive, you can capitalize on the work at home phenomenon. Thinking like an entrepreneur will push you to use the knowledge and skills that you already have. You can then obtain the skill required to run your business from home. You will need some specialized skills and knowledge to succeed in your own home-based business.

The excitement of starting a home-based business is exhilarating. All of the excitement is not an invitation to just quit your day job. However, you should begin trying to plant the seeds online for the type of business that interests you.

What is it that you enjoy doing or have experience with off line? Do You have a passion for a sport , video games or a person? You could always start a sport's chat room, provide updates and strategies for online gamers. You could be the next dating site owner. You can use something you love to create a business online.

While you are making the transition from worker bee to owner, open your eyes and your mind will open to the innovative ways you can use the Internet for your business. It is hard to imagine the number of people that are available to you. It is estimated that there are over 700 million people on the Internet. Your ability to reach customers from all over the world has been reduced to a mouse click. The world is your marketplace. The opportunity for wealth has never been as available to the everyday entrepreneur. The opportunity to work from home is available to everyone.

You can be open for business twenty-four hours a day. There are no employee problems or restrictive access because of weather conditions. Just the availability of Internet businesses make them very profitable.

Your work at home business can be a global empire within a matter of months. The work from home business trend shows no indication that it will slow down in the near future. The competition is fierce on the Internet for the almighty dollar but the Internet is still in its infancy. There is plenty of room for your work at home business to grow and prosper using the Internet.

3 Profitable Reasons to Advertise Your Home Business on the Net

By Eric Ackley

When people think of internet advertising, they think of nationwide or worldwide reach. A SOHO business owner may think “Why advertise on the net? I can’t service someone in Seattle if I have one little shop in Houston.” However, there are ways you can use the internet to reach your local area.

More and more people are going online to find local information. Just yesterday, my daughter called from her cell phone to ask me to find electronics stores in Clarksville, Tennessee. If you had an electronics store there, and weren’t on the web, my daughter wouldn’t have become a customer of yours.

The first reason to use the ‘net is that you can advertise locally. Craigslist has city directories for various local areas. Yahoo and MSN (to name just two) have local directories. Your ISP or city probably has a local business directory online. Check these resources out; perhaps you can put your company in a directory listing somewhere.

The second reason is you can enlarge your initial page with any specials you might run or coupons your customers can print out and redeem. This is cheaper than newspaper or radio ads, and more permanent. Restaurants can put a menu online.

Put a list of questions online that your staff is always asked, with the answers. This will cut down on the time your staff uses to answer repetitive questions. You can do the same thing offline by printing a question sheet for customers to pick up when they enter the store.

Third, you can capture your customer’s email addresses to keep them informed about specials or upcoming events they would be interested in.

A fourth reason to advertise on the internet is the possibility of networking and doing joint advertising with other, non-competing businesses. Say you own a flower shop; you could advertise a joint special with a jewelry store for a Valentines Day promotion. Or, if you are a restaurant owner, advertise with local specialty stores, referring customers to each other’s shops.

To start advertising on the internet, get a simple website online. You don’t even need your own domain name; your ISP should give you a spot as part of your internet usage. Initially, use it to advertise your business name, location, phone number, hours, and other information.

Look for local directories you can be added to. Tell your existing customers about your website, and emphasize they can get information or online specials any time of the day or night. Track your results; you will be pleasantly surprised at the difference local internet advertising will make in your business.

Building A Simple Web Site For The Beginner

By Andy W. Jones

When you're fairly new to the internet, the thought of building a web page seems like a distant dream. Well, I'm here to tell you that you can build simple web pages even if you have no HTML experience and without having to do a training course. It's not easy at first, but it is completely within reach for anyone. I should know, I didn't know anything about web design and within a couple of weeks I had a simple lead-capture page built. So this article is from the beginner's perspective.

When I started out, I had been considering ways of building an opt-in subscriber list. The obvious answer was to have my own lead capture page. I didn't have the money to pay for someone else to build it for me so the only option was to attempt it myself. So the first step is just to decide that you will give it a go. Second step is to decide what the goal of the page is. Is it a sales page to promote an affiliate product; a lead capture page to capture subscribers; or a home page? Whatever you decide, I recommend that you keep it really simple for your first one, just to get "your feet wet".

Now that you know what type of page you want, the easiest way to work out the sales copy, content, layout and design is to create it with a word processor first (like Word). This for me was the quickest and easiest way to come up with the design, to see what it would look like and to make changes as needed. Once I was happy with that I could proceed to the next step, which was to build the page with a web page editor.

Once again, I was restricted by the budget (as many people are) so to buy a web page editor was out of the question at this stage. But there are many different free options. I ended up going for FirstPage2006 by www.Evrsoft.com and downloaded that to my desktop. Once you have it downloaded, open it up and click on the Basic HTML Document button. At this stage I copied and pasted the text from my Word document to Notepad (to convert it all to plain text).

Then on FirstPage2006 (FP2006) go to file, click on convert text file to HTML, locate your Notepad document and click on open. That will open your Notepad document in FP2006 in HTML format. Now all you have to do is go through the content and modify the font types, sizes, colors, alignment and margins. This can be very tedious at first but keep going and you will get there. Just a tip: save your work every few minutes, as I found that I made many mistakes along the way before I was happy with the layout. I won't go into all the features of the page editor because it will depend on which one you've got but keep playing around with it and you will learn quickly.

Have a good look around at other web sites to get ideas and to learn from them. Especially look at the ones that catch your eye and model your site on their's (please note, don't copy their work but you can model successful elements of the page). Good sales copy is beyond the scope of this article, but basically go for a big, bold headline (usually red looks good) and a sub-heading that conveys benefits and arouses curiosity. If you have a long sales letter, break that up with sub-headings that people can "scan" to keep them on the page. That also depends on what the goal of the web page is as well.

Once your page is finished it's time to get a domain name, hosting for the site, and upload everything to your host. Your hosting company should have instructions on how to upload your site.

This is just the very start of things. You should consider getting extra training to enhance the basic skills that you've learned and maybe upgrade your free editor as well to build better pages. Even so, you can still build professional looking pages with the bare minimum so just give it a try. Once you build that first web page, there will be no holding you back and the satisfaction and rewards are well worth it.
